Join me 10/24 @ Organic Soul & 350.org Event

by admin on October 23, 2009

I’ll be appearing with Elijah Joy, the Organic Soul Chef, as part of the 350.org International Day of Climate Action in the nation’s capital.  Elijah has organized a Vegan Action Food Prep Course and Organic Giveaway for this event to highlight the primary link between the food on our plate and the health of our planet.  The United Nations confirmed that livestock production is the biggest contributor to global warming, so eating more vegan foods is the fastest and easiest way to protect the environment.

So while Elijah is showing you how to prepare his delicious vegan “go-go” greens, I’ll be talking about why they’re so good for you.  (By the way, look out for a special version of Elijah’s ”go-go” greens recipe in my book.)

So, come join us in DC on Saturday, October 24th from 1-2pm at the Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th Street, NW, for a great vegan food class.  For more info, go here.

And across the street in Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park (16th and Euclid Streets, NW), take part in the overall 350.org International Day of Climate Action rally from 12-5pm, including a march to the White House, sponsored by Green the Block, the Hip Hop Caucus, and more.  For more info, go here.

The “350″ in 350.org stands for the safest upper limit of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.  Beyond 350 parts per million of CO2, the planet faces both human and natural disaster.  On October 24th, nearly 2000 countries are holding actions about the threat of climate change to our planet.

Hope to see many of you Saturday!
