malcolm x Happy Birthday, Malcolm X! Thanks for the Inspiration

Happy Birthday, Malcolm X.   My book title and message for By Any Greens Necessary are inspired by your love and work for social justice, human rights, and mental liberation “by any means necessary.”  And, of course, you actively espoused healthy diets and lifestyles, too.

I chose a twist on that phrase you popularized because it signifies an urgent call to revolution, particularly when it comes to the health of black women.  We are experiencing an explosive health crisis, and yet we have the power to create healthy and disease-free lives by liberating the way we think about food.  And many more of us are doing this everyday…by doing something as simple and profound as eating more plant-based foods, saving not only ourselves and our communities, but the planet, as well.

I’m honored to be a voice in this health revolution.  Your legacy lives on in me and millions of others around the world.  Thank you, Malcolm!

Tracye,

I started reading your book yesterday and finished it today (on Brother Malcolm’s Birthday) Your book is such an inspiration to me. The information on the treatment of animals was appalling and deeply emotional for me. Much of the information was familiar to me, yet you presented in a way that was fresh and gripping. I thank you for helping me get off the fence about whether or not I wanted to go back to being vegan. Thank you for gifting us with such a loving offering. May this find you well.–GaBrilla Ballard
