Danielle brought us to happy tears

by admin on March 1, 2013

Hey, Family!
I’m feeling so energized from the Wellness Revolution Conference at Spelman College these past two days. I’m honored to have been asked to participate in the launch of this movement.

In this pic, I’m talking with Spelman president Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, Oscar-winning actor Mo’Nique, wellness pioneer and 91-year-old Deborah Szekely, and psychologist Dr. Brenda Wade to 1000+ Spelman women. It was truly inspirational!

Backstage, Spelman senior Danielle Winfrey met Mo’Nique for the first time and it was a MOMENT!

After squeeling with delight (you know how we do!), Danielle’s tears started flowing as she hugged and held the woman she idolizes. Danielle told Mo’Nique how she was teased as a child for being a big girl and how much Mo’Nique meant to her growing up.

And now, how Mo’Nique’s weight loss journey has helped inspire Danielle to become a Wellness Scholar at Spelman, run 5k marathons, and coach her Spelman sisters to exercise more. And she’s absolutely glowing! This is the power of Spelman’s Wellness Revolution. Nearly half of all entering freshmen already have some form of diet-related chronic disease, and Spelman president Beverly Daniel Tatum is determined to change that. I’m thrilled to be a part of making it happen! You can learn more, get involved, and spread the word here. We need you!

Looks like it was a great event. Spelman students are lucky to have a college president who cares about the health of their students.
I wish I could take your vegan soul food class but I am no where near Atlanta. If you’re ever in Chicago, I’ll definitely be there!
